Pubs and Clubs:
New applications for planning or operating licences often require an assessment of the
impact of noise from existing or proposed operations of a club, pub or other
entertainment venue, on neighbouring residential receptors.
This includes applications for extensions of licences following the 2005 change in
licensing laws, which theoretically allow for 24-hour opening.
These assessments are normally required to be carried out utilising the methodology
of BS 4142: 1997, the primary Standard for assessing specific noise against the
existing background noise affecting the receptors.
There may also be an additional need to specifically assess low frequency sound from
bass music, as this is more likely to cause noise nuisance.
Loven Acoustics has experience of carrying out many such assessments, and can offer
sensible and reasonable solutions, within best practicable means, to improve the sound
insulation of building shells and sound system installation advice, ensuring that
local authority criteria are met.
We can also assess the room acoustics of the venues to ensure that the sound
characteristics of the rooms are suitable for the proposed use.
