Building / Architectural:
Loven Acoustics has a great deal of experience in acoustic design in buildings;
the emphasis being always on a practical and economically aware perspective.
We have worked with many residential and commercial developers, builders of all sizes
and architectural practices to provide solutions that work both at site level and
within the architect and client’s vision.
However, we will not tell you that something will work when we know it won’t!
There may be compromises to be made to achieve a working solution, but with previous
experience in the building industry to call on, we provide a practical approach
to construction design. We will happily ensure recommendations that are achievable
and cost effective and usually without need of specialist trades, or expensive
‘systems’ with improbable performance claims!
We are fully conversant with the requirements of Approved Document E of the 2003
Building Regulations, and the additional requirements of EcoHomes and the Code for
Sustainable Homes, which replaced it. Martin Loven’s expertise in separating partition
design is borne from previous site experience and five years as an ANC accredited
pre-completion sound tester.
During that time Martin has encountered many issues relating to design and workmanship,
and is able to provide sound design advice to ensure partitions meet or exceed Part E
sound insulation requirements.
This is particularly important in refurbishment work, or material change of use,
as it is referred to in Part E, where there is often a mix of new and original
building elements. In such cases there are factors other than the performance of
the partition itself, such as flanking, to consider.
The design experience we can offer extends to controlling the impact of noise from
mechanical service installations internally and externally, combining environmental
assessment with building design to provide an integrated solution to all noise
related issues in any development.
